Advanced Placement Prep
The number of high school offering Advanced Placement (A.P.) classes keeps increasing. According to the College Board, there has been about a 30% increase in the number of schools offering these classes over the past decade. Now we are seeing a surge of schools offering summer support programs to help prepare students for A.P. classes.
The support programs vary, but generally focus on providing familiarity with A.P. class content to reduce anxiety, improve problem-solving skills, and improve study skills and note-taking strategies. The availability of these programs has the effect of enticing more students to sign up for A.P. classes.
HEY! Is this too much of a good thing? Whatever happened to time for social activities and summer jobs that can provide real-life experience? What do you think?

Nope, we did that and America fell far behind the other countries in math and science. Now it is all about advancing and testing.
