"NO PAIN, NO GAIN! First of all, have a bottle of water by your side so that you don't have to go all the way to the kitchen when you feel thirsty. Secondly, spend a few minutes collecting all the study material that will be used. Thirdly, have a moment of determination with yourself, clear all unnecessary thoughts and decide what you will study- from page x to page y, from this book and that book, etc. Lastly, MUGGING UP is a crime, understanding will do the trick, reading aloud and repeating really helps. When you are done with a lesson, review it at least once and prior to all this make sure that you understand the equation no pain equals no gain!"

"When you need to remember something, draw a silly picture. The sillier it is, the better. Incorporate words if needed. "I find that I remember things well if I draw them down (diagrams) and use a dry erase marker and write down the notes once I have studied them to revise or remember them. It then seems to stick in my head. Most importantly, review your notes, otherwise you will tend to forget what you memorized fairly quickly. Hope this helps."

"Do take a healthy breakfast before school as this will boost your energy level and keep you fresh all day. If you're preparing for a test or exam at home, choose a comfortable place, which is free from distractions and has a good table with a table lamp. Keep your concentration on what you are reading and try to understand it. Never do rote-learning, as you can forget things like this. Make a test for yourself or get someone else to do it. Then take the test fairly or you can have someone ask you the questions orally. Do not study for many hours constantly. Do take small breaks in between for a snack. Have a daily organizer. Good luck!"

"The worst place to study is on your bed. You can get too comfortable and not pay attention to your work. It is also not good to study around electronics such as computers, televisions, and radios. This is because you might get distracted and again pay more attention to the electronics than your work. Also before a test or exam eat a healthy meal and get plenty of sleep the week of the test so your body is used to going to bed at a specific time. Follow these tips and good luck!"

"Tip 1 - Try to make a"tree diagram" of the topic which you plan to study; e.g., if it is"pollution" then write it in the middle of a blank paper and around it write all the related subtopics. Use different colors to help you recollect at exam time. Tip 2 - Tabulate common topics, especially in geography locations. Put seasons, crops grown there, living styles of people in columns, and type of geographical location in rows. Write it in a tabular form so the one table tells you all the information in one go. It helps at the time of revision and helps you remember large sets of information in a short time. It also works in studying languages. BEST LUCK!"

"1. Put into charts and graphic organizers the gist of the lecturer's argument or content. 2. Study at dawn. 3. Re-read to avoid oblivion. 4. Link all that you study to things in your real life. 5. Don't cram into your brain. Comprehend-Analyze-Synthesize-Master-Apply. 6. Check the reliability of data you're reading. 7. Share your understanding of all that you read with your colleagues. It helps consolidate and check your comprehension of written or heard discourse. 8. Don' t study by heart. Understand-Apply. 9. Be yourself. Be the one to dig out knowledge, not the one begging for some of colleagues' crumbs. 10. Raise your chin up. You're smart."
