"I find that if you are bored with studying, you should make flashcards and go out and ride a bike or something and have someone come with you to quiz you on the flash cards. It is a great way to study without getting bored out of your mind!"

"I'm going to give you the shortcut to good results - Read, Read, Read (in a systematic way). This year I got super hit A plus and all I had to do was read. When you read, even if your mind is flying try to concentrate. Even if you find it hard to focus, just sit with your book. Eventually you'll find out that you are extremely attentive. Also, don't waste much time. It's very unwise."

"Put things up all over your walls in your bedroom when it's coming up to exams - during exam time I have English quotes stuck to the roof above my bed, biology diagrams on my walls, and make large picture timelines for History, Classics and also for plot summary in English. By having all this hanging around you, you're constantly looking at it, and taking it in even when on the phone. I find that all this makes me really remember it - as you have to think about the information as you work out exactly how you will present it and then soak it in when you don't even realize it."

"If there is something you always like to do (e.g., watching T.V.), do it. You will totally be more focused. Because if you don't you'll be telling yourself you're bored and that's not good. Plus an elementary teacher or principal told my mother to do that for me. It Works For Me. Try it!"

"The best time to study is in the night, so make sure you have a nap when you come home from school. Then in the night, when the place is cool and quiet, you can then concentrate soley on your work. Always have writing material with you while you study so you can write down necessary questions and information."

"Pick up a pen in your hand and go word by word. This will increase your concentration. Read the topic 4 times. The 1st time you will only get an overview. The 2nd time you will be more familiar. The 3rd time you will be able to grasp the message of the topic. The 4th time you will be able to understand the topic as a whole. Now the topic is in your memory. This will work. JUST GO FOR IT."

"When doing experiments, labs, or activities in a classroom, teachers will often ask for a report of some sort. These reports are almost always good study notes, especially if you put a lot of effort into them. Therefore, it is important to put as much detail into these (and other assignments) to make sure you understand the topic. It is very likely that some teachers will move on to other material once the reports have been handed in."

"Instead of waiting until the last minute to start on your report, the day you get the assignment brainstorm and write a rough draft to give to your teacher and have him correct it. Then ask another teacher to correct over what your teacher corrected and then rewrite your paper using the help of the two different teachers. I guarantee you will get a good grade. It worked for me and it will sure enough work for you."

"When I study, I play classical music to keep me focused on my work (it really helps). Another thing that promises success is putting the most needed information on flash cards. and reviewing it over and over until i fully remember every piece of the information. Also I would stay away from the TV for about 2 hours so you don't get brainwashed and forget everything."

"I find that if I write all of my weekly goals onto a whiteboard and cross them off as I complete them, it helps me to feel like I'm accomplishing something. I think of each task as a hurdle to jump over and think things like '5 more assignments till a bit of a break' to stay focused and work even harder on those 5 assignments. The idea of a break or another completed obstacle definitely helps me to stay focused and complete everything to the best of my ability."

"I think the best way to study is to give yourself a pep talk before you start studying. Say things like 'I can do this' really helps me a lot. And if you get low marks, don't be discouraged to study, you should be more aware because now, you know what you don't know before this! Good Luck! I know it's not easy."

"Have a healthy breakfast before school to boost your energy level. During the teacher's lecture, try to grasp each and every word and jot down the important points. When studying at home, choose a place free from distractions. Read every single word and do not omit anything. Try to get the concepts clear in your mind rather than memorizing. Learn for a test or exam before time as last-minute study doesn't helps a bit. Make questions from your chapter and ask someone to ask you the questions. Do not take any subject as a burden or you will find that particular subject really difficult although it may be easy. Good luck!"

"Some people call it coloring or doodling. The technical term is annotation. The reasons for marking up a hundred-dollar book are sound, however. Use colored pens to make fine underlining, circle key words, and to color code. Jot important notes in the margins. Use curly brackets and stars. Add study hints at the start of each chapter. Come study time these highlights are the quickest comprehensive review."

"Time on a Budget Each week has 168 hours. Each student has 168 dollars in his or her piggy bank each week. No overdraft is possible. Expect to need 8 hours of sleep each night. Personal hygiene and meals could cost 28 dollars each week. Exercise 4 times a week will cost about 6 dollars a week. Class time will run you 15 dollars each week. What do you have left to spend? 63 time dollars Recommended study time is generally 3 hours study per hour in class. This will cost 45 dollars each week but does not include extra spending on exams. So, there will be some time left for other life activities!"

"1. Highlight key phrases and lists. 2. Make some peppermint tea. 3. Absorb the highlight notes for instant recall purposes. 4. Have a snack. A stir-fry or can of beans will do the trick. 5. Open textbook and review any section that seems foreign. 6. Stare out your window to see how many other people are up at this hour. 7. Do your laundry. 8. Have a go at old assignments. 9. Brush your teeth and floss a couple of times. 10. Bring out the caffeinated beverages. 11. Review highlight notes again. 12. Take a shower. 13. Check the clock and figure out how many hours until you write. Subtract 30 minutes for transportation time, and divide your area."

"The procrastination monster strikes again. One little hiccup along the road is to learn when to apply yourself. Overconfidence will leave you learning a unit of work three days before the test. Good grades under such circumstances feed the delay monster in each of us. Lack of confidence leaves some students waiting for enlightenment. When this does not come they could clue in to the need to read within acceptable time boundaries. They could throw the exam due to caution. My study tip is to devote yourself. Avoidance and denial are usually the main issues amongst procrastinators. Get down to brass tacks."

"Paying Attention in Class Sometimes the only way to maintain interest is to become involved in the discussion. There have been classes that could not maintain my interest. It can be difficult. Assuming all your engines are turning, class time is the place to glean information with little exhaustive effort. Sit in front. Have your textbook with you. Some handy tactics to maintain interest are to meticulously annotate your notes for later study or to refer back to previous notes to grasp the bigger picture or to engage in every class discussion you can."
