Journals

Having students write journals related to school is a great way to encourage reflection and creativity and enhance learning. Journals can be used to help students deal with emotional issues such as conflict they are encountering or stress they are experiencing. Journals can also provide a valuable review tool by having your students write about things they learned that day.

Have your students write their journal entries in a notebook that they can hand in for your review. You can then scan your students' journals and provide feedback comments before returning the journals to the students. Not only will your students benefit from their writing. You will gain greater insight into their needs.
