Endangered Species

Here is a way to make your students environmentally conscious. Point out that more than one hundred plants and animals become extinct around the world each day. Have your students identify an animal that is currently endangered. Have them do research to answer the following questions.

1. Why is this animal in danger of becoming extinct?
2. Where is its habitat?
3. What is being done to save this animal?
4. Who is involved in trying to save this animal?
5. What are the chances of this animal's long-term survival?

Have students support their conclusions with graphs, charts, and/or tables.
