Exit Slips
After wrapping up a lesson, but just a few minutes before the class ends, have your students complete an exit slip that they must hand to you as they leave the classroom. The procedure is easy to accomplish and will leave your students thinking about what they have learned.
Follow these steps:
- Distribute blank exit slips to the students. A good size is 4″ by 6″.
- Have each student write his or her name on the exit slip.
- Have each student write the most important thing he or she learned about the lesson.
- Collect the exit slips just before the class ends.
This procedure acts as a way to reinforce the lesson. Review the exit slips to ensure that students learned what you wanted them to. If needed, you can reteach any important concepts that were missed.
