Mix it Up
It is good to provide consistency in your classroom. Clear expectations and established routines provide the structure that many students need. However, too much consistency can become boring for your students. Students who are bored often become students who act out. Mix it up in your classroom by varying how you deliver instruction. Use a mix of lectures, demonstrations, role playing activities, and independent activities to maintain students’ interest. Slowly introduce new routines, and surprise your students from time to time by doing something they haven’t come to expect.
