Resolving Conflicts
It is only natural that conflicts will occur between students in your classroom. Acquaint your students with these three ways of resolving conflicts.
- Compromise. Students should look for common ground. Large points of disagreement can be negotiated while small points can be disregarded.
- Collaborate. Students should try to understand each other`s position and work together to resolve the conflict.
- Avoid the conflict.. Students should learn that some things are simply not worth getting upset about. In this case it`s best to just let it go.
Conflicts are not resolved well if one student simply gives in or stubbornly stands their ground. In each of these cases, resentment tends to linger.
