You can help students master the spelling of recently learned words by using the following simple review activities.
- Present a set of newly learned words in which some of the words are misspelled. Have students circle the misspelled words.
- Present a set of newly learned words in which one or none of the words is misspelled. Have students identify the misspelled word if there is one or write “none” if all of the words are spelled correctly.
- Present variant spellings of a newly learned word. Have students underline the variant that is correctly spelled.
- Present a set of new learned words in which each of the words is misspelled. Have students write the correct spelling for each word.
